TWO pupils nominated fun-loving Mr Lockwood because he makes his class feel special and important.
Georgina Procter, nine, said: "He is great and very funny because when it is storytime he puts on silly voices and accents and its hilarious.
"When I got a pink ukulele I did not know how to tune it, so Mr Lockwood did it for me and played it in front of all the class and made us laugh.
"He is very musical and plays his guitar for us and he has supported me as I've learned to play the cello.
"Mr Lockwood makes our lessons fun to help us understand and is very caring and thoughtful - he will stay in at playtime and help us until we get it right."
Fellow nine-year-old pupil Luke Wiles added: "Mr Lockwood is a kind, gentle and helpful man.
"He has been helpful because I forget a lot in class and when I do he tells me again so I can remember.
"He has taken us on lots of trips to places like Peasholm Park and York Railway Museum and when I need help with my writing he is a great help to me."
Olivia Procter, six, wrote a poem about her favourite teacher Miss Agar. It reads:
"Marvellous
Interesting
Special
Spectacular
Amazing
Great
Astonishing
Right on!" MRS Tomlinson was nominated for the award by four-year-old Caitlin O'Reilly.
Caitlin said: "Mrs Tomlinson really looks after me when I'm feeling sad and she cares so much for all of us in our foundation class.
"She is a great helper with my reading and encourages me to be happy and helpful in all I do."
LITTLE Tierney Alison Freer couldn't choose between her favourite teachers - so decided to nominate them all.
The five-year-old believes the foundation team of Mrs Tomlinson, Mrs Greaves and Mrs Bayes are worthy of the honour.
She said: "They were brilliant at helping us settle when we started school and showed us love and kindness.
"They make our days full of fun and happiness while teaching us so many new things.
"Their team effort has made the difference as they have gone over and above their job description in taking extra special care of me and my class friends."
