STUDENTS across Scarborough have reason to celebrate after achieving some impressive GCSE results. There were A grades all round yesterday as hundreds of teenagers returned to school to find out their results.
Pupils at Graham School arrived bright and early to find out their grades. Briony Ross 16, of Harley Street, gained three A*s and eight A grades.

She said: "I am really really pleased. This is so much better than I expected. I wasn't actually that nervous about getting my results. I was really excited." Nicole Fenwick, 16, of Hovingham Drive, was also celebrating after getting six A* grades and four As.

She said: "This is more than I hoped for so I am really pleased. It feels great." Josh Kermode, 16, of Peasholm Drive, achieved four A* grades four As and two Bs. He said: "My family are really pleased for me. All my friends have done well so I think we are going to celebrate by going to the beach."

St Augustine's School again achieved some pleasing results. Tom Bruccoleri, 16, of Oak Road who got six A*s and four As, said: "This is what I was hoping. I am so glad I got some A* grades."

Rob Taylor, 16, of Whitby, achieved an impressive 10 A*s. His father Mark Taylor was deputy head at the school and will become head at Eskdale School, in Whitby in September.

Rob said: "I am really pleased. I didn't expect it at all. I will miss being at St Augustine's but am looking forward to starting at Whitby Community College in September."

At George Pindar Community Sports College Nicholas Dunn- McAfee, 16, of Crossgates, had reason to celebrate five A*s, four As, two Bs and two C grades. He said: "I feel fantastic. This was what I was hoping for and I can't wait to tell my family."

Brett Baldwin, 16, of Newby, who gained one A and nine B grades, said: "I am so relieved to find out. I have been worrying about them, but I am really pleased with the results. I am not sure yet what I am going to do next year."

Katrina Richardson, 16, of Eastfield, achieved five As, three Bs, one C and one D. She said: "This is much better than I expected. I was getting really anxious before I picked the results up. I was not sure what to expect, but I am really pleased."

Sixteen-year-old Adam Valentine, of Crossgates took seven exams last year and has now added one A, three Bs and a C to his tally. "I went through all this last year so I have been less nervous. I am pleased with the results and am now looking forward to studying at Scarborough Sixth Form College."

Scalby School also had plenty of happy students. Kelly May, 16, of Scalby, achieved five A*s and seven A

Sam Leeming, 16, of Hackness, said: "I got one A*, nine As and two Bs. These were pretty much what I wanted so I am pleased. It is nice to have it all over with. I am looking forward to celebrating with my friends."

Abigail Hartley, 16, of Scalby Mills, was delighted with her 10 A*s, two As and one B. She said: "These grades are just what I wanted.I have loved being at Scalby School and will really miss it.I am going to Scarborough Sixth Form College in September, which I am really looking forward to."

Raincliffe School pupil Rebecca Walker, 16, of Ravenscar, gained two A*s, two As, six Bs and one C. She said: "I am very happy.

I have been quite nervous about today. All I wanted was to do well in history and electronics, and I got A*s in both."

Ettie Tate, 16, of Osgodby, said: "I got three A*s, eight As and two Bs which was what I was hoping for. "I did not sleep at all last night as I was just so worried."
