THE sky was the limit for Scarborough publican Brian Witty when he took the plunge for charity in a two-mile freefall parachute jump at Bridlington.
And he said he did not feel any nerves at all.

"I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie," he said. "I like a challenge and, now I've done it, I'd recommended it to anyone – it's just a fantastic thrill.

"I really didn't feel any nerves, not even when I was standing at the door of the plane. I just loved every minute."

The jump consisted of one mile freefall and another mile of gentler decent by parachute.

The man who fell to earth estimates he has earned around £1,300 for St Catherine's Hospice.

Brian, who runs Cellars bar and restaurant in Valley Road, said: "My mum has recently died from cancer and, though she wasn't in the hospice, the care she got from Macmillan Nurses and Ryedale district nurses was so fantastic that I felt I ought to do something."

The cash will be collected at a special pie and peas evening at Cellars tomorrow, starting at 7.30pm.
