YOUNGSTERS as young as 10 have been dicing with death by climbing up a Scarborough landslip.
Coastguards fear they could trigger further landslips and cause someone to lose their life.

Our alarming photograph and video footage was taken by a shocked passer-by, near the South Bay pool star map.

He said: "They were generating quite an audience on the beach watching them and, as well as dangerously throwing rocks and stones, also hurled insults at onlookers."

The three children, aged around 10-12 years old, were clambering up the 70ft high cliff.

Two boys can be seen on a crumbling soil ledge – throwing stones and mud clumps at a third boy below to make him slip.

Eventually he does but, luckily, managed to stop falling, which could have resulted in serious injury.

The passer-by, who did not wish to be named, added: "People on the beach were looking. One woman kept saying "I can't watch," and was pretty disturbed by it."

But the boys shouted: "What you looking at?"

A coastguard spokes-man said: "Not only have these youths put themselves at risk of falling but they are creating the risk of further landslides.

"What may look like "good fun" could very easily end up costing a life – either their own, an innocent by-stander or indeed a rescue worker."

He added: "We urge everyone to stay well clear of these sites as the ground is very unstable."

These kids must have some sort of death wish, I am sure they neither had any sence of danger for them selves or others.

This is typical of the youth of today.

Hope the STUPID PARENTS watch this clip of their stupid moronic idiot children. Still it will be a cheap funeral if the cliff gives way with them under it. Then you will hear the moaning parents come out of the woodwork complaining.

RE post2. It will also be the moaning parents on Look North that blame the council, police, fire service and anyone else they can to try and make themselves look like its the authorities fault when the kids are dead under several hundered tons of dirt. Maybe this type of muppetry is why more serious crimes are going unsolved, while police are chasing their tails catching this type of idiot, burglery and muggings and the rest are being committed and not getting a fast responce. But what can you do? If you take the law into your own hands you end up getting prosicuted. Talk about stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I would have said in the not to recent past 'Its what kids do' play on dodgey ground but their uncivil comments show recent trends in unsocial behaviour. I remember talking to a fellow fireman (when they were called that) and I asked him why we do it (rescue idiots) he replied well we shouldnt........ but thats what the emergency services get paid for isnt it. Lets just hope if this lot of kids need the very good skills of rescuers the emergency service staff have the backup of their officers when the decide its too risky........... under the HASAW Act................

As for their parents I have a good sterilising kit you might want to borrow it sometime.

what I would like to know what day and time it was? and if these little fools should have been in school? or is it another case of suspension? because from what I could see by their attitude I dont think a school would have them, I also wonder if they would have been tried for murder if that boy had not stopped sliding, or if a landslip had occured resulting in someones death.

I just thank God tha none of these boy's came to any harm while climbing this cliff.

When I attended Central Junior School an accident happened to one of the younger boy's and he was killed on the Castle cliffs while getting birds eggs.

I think it all taught us all at our school a lesson in how dangerous these clffs are. I also often still think about this small boy and remember how sad all the children felt at his loss.
