HOLIDAYMAKERS have been left scratching their heads in confusion at this Scarborough information board.
The board, next to the Grand Hotel in one of the busiest tourist spots in the town, directs people to several long closed and even demolished visitor attractions including Marvel Leisure and Amusement Park which closed in 1999.
Among other non existent landmarks listed are the Corner Complex, Atlantis, Kinderland and Wood End Museum.
A pointer sign next to the board causes more confusion for visitors directing them to the Wood End Museum, which is closed and now houses Woodend Creative Workspace.
The sign also points them to a closed tourist information centre near to the Stephen Joseph Theatre.
Officers at Scarborough Council are now reviewing the quality of signs in the town.
Cllr David Jeffels, the council's cabinet member for tourism and leisure services, said: "There are signs that have been there for quite a long time and do need replacing.
"A group has been set up to look at the existing signs and adjust those that are out of date and look at ways of promoting the towns attractions.
"We do need some better signing for the theatre and holiday attractions in general in the town."
They are considering using stand alone "advertisement drums" which are circular in shape and posters can be put around them.
Another plan is to use "attractively designed banners" which could be fitted to lamp posts.
Cllr Jeffels hopes to have the promotional items in place for the start of next Easter.
He added: "It's so important that we do promote our attractions."
