FILEY inshore lifeboat crew rescued a family of holidaymakers who became stranded after trying to walk from Cayton to Filey.
It was the latest of several similar incidents over the past few days, as the sea fret has made walking on the coast particularly treacherous.

The coastguard has now issued a warning stating that it is "impossible" to walk from Cayton to Filey along the bottom of the cliffs, as there is about 50m which is never uncovered by the tide.

The family – a mother, two children and two dogs – were rescued on Tuesday afternoon after realising they were unable to walk any further.

By the time they turned round to go back, the tide had come in and cut their path off.

On Monday a 29-year-old man had to be helped by coastguards after becoming disorientated in the mist as he walked along the Cleveland Way near Cornelian Bay. It was the tenth such incident in as many days.
