SCARBOROUGH'S favourite DJ Sir Jimmy Savile is delighted at the return of Top of the Pops this Christmas.

The veteran presenter hosted the first ever show on January 1 1964 and made a special appearance on what was thought to be the last ever TOTP in June 2006.

Now the BBC has confirmed there will be two special one-off shows on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.

They will be hosted by Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates, but Sir Jim is keeping his fingers crossed he could make a special guest appearance.
He said: "I think it's marvellous – Top of the Pops is what we need to brighten the world up. The prospect of it coming back is really something.

"Pop music sells dreams – girls love pop records because they mirror their love-lives and boys always dream about playing the guitar in a group."

I don't dream about playing Guitar in a group, I dream about sunny islands with nice sandy beaches - Oh and winning the lottery.

All you Fixit fans with your cowardly "Comment Reported Unsuitable By User" stuff, you are saying more about the layer of sycopohancy round this sad old publicity-seeker than any comment of mine ever could.
