KNIFE crime in Scarborough is on the increase, and hospitals in Yorkshire are treating a record number of stab victims.
Last week Ben Kinsella became the 17th teenager stabbed to death in London this year.

Police figures show there were 35 violent crimes involving a knife in Scarborough between July 1 2007 and June 30 2008, six of which resulted in injury to a person.

Scarborough Hospital has reported that staff are dealing with three to four serious stabbings a year, along with a growing number of patients with less serious knife-related injuries.

A spokesman said: "The problem with knives in Scarborough is not on the same scale as we hear of in London, but we do get people in with stab wounds.

"Incidents are increasing almost always related to excessive consumption of alcohol.

"Overall, the level of violence our staff see in A&E is rising year on year, as where London and other inner city areas lead, Scarborough follows.

"We need to get across just how much knives ruin lives for everyone involved."

Is this why we need a Darzi style Super Clinic?

The 'Improve North York's NHS Services Campaign Group’ have just received the latest publicity leaflet from the primary care trust, who are responsible for GP services county wide.

This 8 page glossy booklet, which must have cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to produce, is being backed up by a team of advertising gurus and publicists, also costing a fortune.

Flying in face of public opinion they are still pressing ahead with this massive publicity drive, calling meetings with groups who support them, drop in sessions staffed by publicists and handing out propaganda, holding a public meeting, complete with publicists and press officers.

As they are to date, losing the battle, they are also to pay for a pull out section and questionnaire in the Sarborough Evening News again costing thousands.

They are to flood the town centre with staff/ press agents/ publicists all handing out leaflets and giving advice.

Comment1 Cont,

For the health of us all in the area, they must be stopped and now the campaign group desperately need your help with printing publicity leaflets, raising funds or by joining the group.

We have no resources to counter the Primary Care Trust or this multi thousand pound publicity drive, which are hell bent on killing off GPs surgeries the local hospital, dental services and the ambulance service and giving you a Darzi-super clinic, which nobody wants.

Please help us today, before it is too late we are in a fight to the death against their
plans to centralise everything we hold dear.
