POETS will be cruising for the Samaritans next week.
Members of Scarborough Poetry Workshop are to board the Coronia for a poetry trip around the south bay on Friday June 26, at 8pm.
It will feature readings of poetry and live music, and all performers are giving their time and talents freely to hel
p raise funds for the Samaritans.
Guitarists Tom Cullen, Ben Lane and Graham Walker (aka Grod) and flautist Rob Mackay will play a variety of classic rock, pop and folk.
Eight members of Scarborough Poetry Workshop will be performing their work, and budding poets will be able to join in during an open-mic session.
Performance officer Sylvia McGlynn says: “We are hoping for calm seas, but even if this isn’t to be, the event will still take place aboard the Coronia in the harbour. There are still some tickets available, and it promises to be a most enjoyable evening.
“As numbers are limited, we thought it would be a nice gesture for local people and businesses to sponsor tickets for the performers, enabling us to give even more,” says Sylvia.
“So far we have had some sponsored, but we still need a few more tickets, costing £10 each, to be sponsored. So even if you can’t join us for the cruise, you can still support the Samaritans by paying for performers’ tickets instead.”
