THE Land Girls of Yorkshire, a comedy play, will be presented at Suddaby's Crown Hotel in Malton next Wednesday at 8.30pm.
It’s set in a village during the Second World War, when the Women’s Land Army took to the countryside as part of the war effort. “The play celebrates the highs and lows of two young women who helped keep Britain fed,” says promoter Jim Clarke.

With original music by Jez Lowe, it is based on the reminiscences of a number of real Land Army Girls.

Tickets cost £8 and can be booked by ringing (01944) 738422.

On June 18 there will be a blues jam at the same venue.
