Volunteers can restore stadium
Volunteers can restore stadium
REGARDING Keith Sales' letter about the Athletic Ground, I have raised this point re Scarborough Athletic before.
If the Athletic Ground was restored, it may be possible for both Athletic and Town teams to use it as a ground-share.
The excessive amount for the work needed, as quoted by our local councillor friends is not a realistic figure, being padded out by consultation experts who charge the earth and are totally unnecessary.
We have excellent people on the dole and could raise plenty of volunteers to carry out the work required for the leagues we play in.
Why, when our council employs architects and building inspectors, do we always run to people like ‘Benchmark' who charge the earth for something? Our town hall and other employees, plus those on social security payments, and also volunteers, can do the job much cheaper.
Remember what they did to our outdoor pool, they used it as a tip for the rubbish when they knocked the Corner Cafe down.
It is high time our council worked for the people who pay their wages.
