Under-15s sink York to net overtime thriller
The Seahawks U15s team came out victorious against the York Vikings in a thrilling game that went into overtime.
York brought a strong squad to the Pickering Central Venue League with hopes of improving on their current third place league position.
The first half was very even with both teams creating good opportunities, while the second saw York pull ahead.
With two minutes left in normal time, Matt Barker came off the bench to score two quick lay-ups to get the Seahawks back into the game, while excellent defence by Martin Kitchen kept the score tied at the final whistle.
Overtime saw much of the same, and exciting play from Scarborough's Dan Jaleco took the game to a second overtime period when York tired. Seahawks kept their composure to score in the final seconds and hold on for the win.
Seahawks maintained their second place in the league with their sights now firmly set on leaders Thirsk Thunder.
The next clash is on February 27 at the Northern Ryedale Sports Centre.
