Staxton are a double hit

STAXTON B have done the league and cup double after beating Wykeham B by four wickets in the McCain Cup final last night.

In a game played at Flixton Wykeham won the toss and chose to bat first posting 105-7, openers Steve Staveley (27) and Chris Bateman (15) their top scorers.

Sam Colling (13no) and Ian Johnson (11 no) came in down the order and added some runs.

The pick of the Staxton bowlers were Nick Sumpton (3-12) and Linden Gray (2-22).

In reply Staxton made it to 106-6 with Gray also impressing with the bat as he scored 24, Aidrian Young (19) and Graeme Jeffrey (12) also chipping in to help the cause.

Darren Mills tried his hardest wth the ball for Wykeham taking 3-10 but Wykeham gave away 25 extras. League vice-chairman Terry Baker made the presentations.
