Seamer bag win

MATTY Morris and Jordan Glendinning both bagged a brace apiece as their Seamer under-14s side claimed a 6-3 victory at Fishburn Park.

Seamer were a goal to the good after just a single minute when Josh Venner calmly placed the ball in the back of the net.

The hosts were back on level terms shortly after but Seamer were back in front when Morris bundled his way through the defence and powered in a shot.

Park were not done and soon found themselves back on level terms once more and then went ahead for the first time in the game.

Seamer were always creating chances though and made it 3-3 in the 26th minute, Glendinning sliding the ball home following a quick free-kick from Venner.

Glendinning then turned provider just before the break for Bradley Sykes to lash the ball home from five yards out.

Seamer continued to press in the second half and added a fifth when Glendinning slotted in.

Park battled to try and get back into the game but Seamer defenders, Dominic Bond, Connor Davison, and Lewis Brownlie were all outstanding.

Morris sealed things for the away side when he burst through and fired home with an assured finish.

Seamer keeper Rory Skelton produced a fine stop from a point-blank header to ensure they kept their three-goal advantage.

Adam Smith was the Seamer man-of-the-match for his battling display in midfield.

Phoenix cruised to a comfortable 16-1 win at Eastfield, with Shane Holt and Liam Jennings both bagging trebles.

Tommy Wilson, Ryan Link and Nathan Patterson notched a double apiece for the victors, with Nathan Harding and defenders Ben Watson, Lloyd Henderson and Aaron Lilley also on target.

Tommy Wilson and Ben Watson both had good games for Phoenix while young referee Johnathon Wood had a fine game in the middle.
