Seahawks dish out demolition job

Scarborough Seahawks are sitting on top of the new Humber Central Venue Basketball League after week one.

An impressive display saw the experienced Seahawks demolish Hornsea Lightning who were outplayed and outclassed in all four quarters.

The opening quarter started with the Seahawks building an impressive lead with fast-break basketball that Hornsea could not defend, with the Seahawks building a 40-point lead by half-time, and tough defence holding Hornsea to just nine points.

The second half saw much of the same with good passing and strong defence.

All seven Seahawks players scored over 10 points each with fine displays from Jon Baxter, rookie Elliot Tennant and Carl Hodgson, making the final score 86-14.

Veteran Steve Leng said: " We will not get many easy games like that as there is some tough opposition in the league.

"Hull Hawks have a lot of experience and the teams from Grimsby are usually strong, so we will have to build on this win and keep our momentum going."

The Seahawks next game is against Hull Hawks on Wednesday.
