Scarborough Town sign off with Brid win
SCARBOROUGH Town coach Mitch Cook was proud of his team after they signed off with a 3-1 win at Queensgate against NCE premier champions Bridlington Town last night.
Cook, who admitted it was his last game as coach, said: "The team were superb considering they were up against the champions of the NCE League.
"It was my last game as coach and for most of the lads it was their final Town match."
The club are hoping to carry on in the Teeeside League second division, but if they do continue, then it will be with a new line-up and a new boss.
Cook added: "It is a scandal that these Scarborough lads will have to go to the likes of Pickering and Whitby to play, and it's a shame for the football fans in the town as well."
Town opened the scoring with a fine strike from Luke Jenkinson, but early in the second period former Boro marksman Craig Hogg levelled for the hosts.
Town regained the lead with a spot-kick from Nathan Cook, who had been fouled after a stunning run from defence.
With two minutes remaining, a corner was worked to Wayne Brooksby, who curled a superb shot into the top corner of the net, a fitting goal to end the team's prolific two years together.
