Scarborough Pirates face biggest game
SCARBOROUGH Pirates face their biggest game in three years when they host York Locos in the Yorkshire Premier league tomorrow at Eastway (2.30pm).
If the Pirates secure a victory then they are assured of a place in the play-offs.
And coach Mick Shepherd is rallying his troops to put on a top display and earn their spot in those play-offs.
He said: "It is the biggest game we have had in three years and we have to all be up for it.
"We know that if we win we are in the play-offs and we want to use that to motivate the players."
The Pirates are one of a host of clubs chasing play-off glory and could finish second, third, fourth or fifth in what has proved to be a tight league.
The Pirates lost their last outing 30-10 at Rotherham and Shepherd has been working the squad hard to put that defeat behind them.
He added: "It was not the best perfomance from the lads and there were one or two things which did not help the cause but we are not looking for excuses.
"We have been working extremely hard in training since then and the lads have been put through their paces.
"We have a full strength squad to choose from for the match and everyone wants to be in the starting team but there will be some disappointed people too.
"We have Adam Lee back with us from the army and he can play hooker or scrum-half and gives us even more options.
"York are strong in the tackle while we are a running side so it should be an interesting game.
"The support for the side has been brilliant all season and we hope it is the same tomorrow."
