Scarborough Athletic Reserves chase leaders
SCARBOROUGH Athletic Reserves moved to third in the Humber Premier League with a 3-1 win against Inter Charter, with goals from Mike Rustill, Luke Thompson and Paul Routledge.
They were 1-0 down at half-time and with manager Andy Dorsey looking for more pace in attack, Paul Routledge and Luke Thompson came on after 50 minutes.
Neither player was fully fit after recent illness but their introduction changed the game.
Dorsey said: "We need to improve our basic play for next week's match at second-placed North Cave and learn to keep the ball more and be patient. But the win was very pleasing."
Dorsey also gave a debut to goalkeeper George Elliott, who had previously played for the club's supporters' team, Seadogs FC, as well as formerly being part of Scarborough's school of excellence.
Dorsey said: "George had an excellent first match for the reserves and gave confidence to the defence."
The reserves are now just four points behind leaders Crown FC with a game in hand, and one behind North Cave in second, also with a game in hand.
