Paragon duo launch new season
TWO Scarborough Paragon riders kicked off another racing season near Crathorne in the Stockton Wheelers 10-mile time trial.
Despite chilly and damp conditions, David Thompson and Mike Potter managed to avoid the winter road damage and brave the elements. It was a headwind out to the turn point at Tontine and a more helpful tail-wind back to the finish.
Thompson’s result was a respectable eighth overall with a time of 22mins 24ssecs, which also gained him the second-placed veteran prize. Potter was 30th with 24:21.
Paragon’s club event race calendar will start on Sunday April 4 at 9am at Brompton with a 10-mile time-trial.
The club are also gearing up to cater for novice riders by offering short-course options within their longer events, such as a five-mile version within the 25-mile race. The first one will be Sunday April 25 at Irton.
Paragon are also repeating the popular Come and Try It series of five-mile time trials at Scalby, starting in May. Details will be publicised nearer the time.
The last winter meeting for the club will be on Tuesday April 6 (7.30pm) at the McCain Sports and Social Club.
