Oriel secure double glory
ORIEL A secured the division D title to wrap up a league and cup double.
Scalby B lost by five wickets in the penultimate over of this crucial game against Oriel - who had beaten Muston in the AndyHire Cup final 24 hours earlier.
This result allowed Flixton B to nip ahead of Scalby B and claim the second promotion spot with a 44-run success against Oriel B.
Scalby B posted 116-7, all-rounder Darius Bradley leading the way with an unbeaten 28.
Paul Greenhough's undefeated 33 eased Oriel to victory - and the title.
Flixton's success was mainly down to the batting power of teenager Jack Walmsley, the all-round ace smacking 60 as Flixton posted 134-6.
Nick McNally, 28, and Kev Pettitt, 27, both did their best in reply for Oriel, but they fell well short on 90 all out as Flixton bagged promotion.
There were better fortunes for Scalby A though, claiming promotion to the top flight with an eight-run success in their vital clash at rivals Forge Valley.
Scalby batted first in the division B game and reached 144-5 thanks to a powerful half-century from Connor Carson and a stylish 42 from Adam Tildsley.
After a slow start, Valley batsmen Dave Morris, 58, and Will Tindall, 43no, kept the hosts in the hunt, but Scalby kept their cool to seal promotion.
Champions Cayton finished the season on a winning note, Jake McAleese smacking a superb unbeaten 96 in their 75-run triumph against Hunmanby.
Wykeham were relegated from division A, despite winning a thrilling match against runners-up Seamer by four runs.
Joe Tiffany's 3-37 pegged Wykeham back to 117-8, and the all-rounder then top-scored with 31 in Seamer's reply, which fell agonisingly short on 113-9.
Gregg Chadwick, 30no, also shone for Seamer, while James Bryant took 3-20 to help Wykeham to victory.
If Flixton had lost to champions Staxton then they would have been set for a play-off to avoid finishing in a relegation spot, but Nick Zakrzewski's superb spell of 5-9 helped Flixton secure their safety with a 29-run success against Staxton.
Neil Elvidge hit 36 and Rob Lacey 32 as Flixton batted first and made 127-6.
In reply, Zakrzewski then helped skittle Staxton for 98 despite a fine 41 from Rob Pinder.
Cayton B were relegated from division C after their seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Wykeham B.
John Best struck 33 and Daz Jones 29no in Cayton's 127-5, but Steve Staveley's unbeaten 55 helped Wykeham to victory and sent Cayton down.
