Lyth's Tykes gain is Scarboro' loss - COMMENT

THE retirement of former England captain Michael Vaughan has come as a big blow to Scarborough's championship hopes in the Yorkshire League.

With Vaughan quitting the game at all levels, Whitby-born batsman Adam Lyth - who has been one of the major stars in Scarborough skipper Darren Harland's side this summer - is certain to feature regularly for the Tykes.

Harland said: "With Michael Vaughan starting the season in the Yorkshire side Adam had found his chances somewhat limited at county level.

"Now Vaughan has called it a day, it will mean Adam playing more games for Yorkshire which is very good for his career at this stage.

"He was immediately called up for this week's county championship game in Taunton against Sonerset and has done very well so far.

"We will miss him in the Scarborough side because he has scored some vital runs for the team and is great to have around the dressing-room."
