Ladies' stalemate
SCARBOROUGH Ladies kept themselves in among the top few of the Yorkshire League fifth division when they recorded a battling 1-1 draw at Pontefract-based Legiolians.
Scarborough were keen to win this match in order to retain third spot in the standings and so they began with a focus on attack.
After a bright start, great positional play by Bridget Picken allowed space and the opportunity for Kelly Williams to score.
Leglioians retaliated in confident fashion when they saw a gap in the Scarborough defensive line earning them an equaliser.
Scarborough thought they had booked the win, but their goal was disallowed when it rebounded off the goal wheel.
The in-form Charlotte Parnaby was the awarded the player of the match honour for Scarborough.
The ladies return to home action at Pindar on Saturday when they host Otliensians 2nds, with the game kicking off at 12pm.
West Yorkshire side lie just three places below Scarborough in the table, having won four of their eight games this season, so they could provide a tough challenge for Cordelia Hack’s outfit.
