Injury woe for Seamer ace Chadwick
SEAMER'S Gregg Chadwick suffered a broken leg after just 15 minutes of his team's opening Evening News Saturday League division two match of the season at home to Fishburn Park last night.
The Park players were held up by a road accident near the village, delaying kick-off until 6.30pm, and only 15 minutes into the game Chadwick's leg was broken in a 50/50 challenge.
Seamer boss Matty Dawson said: "The ambulance took around 45 minutes or so to get to us, and by the time it had left the ref decided to abandon the game as we would not have been able to finish it as it was getting dark."
Snainton drew 2-2 at Cayton Reserves, with Jono Davies and James Wilson on target for the visitors. Jamie Whitelaw and Mike Dennis scored for Cayton.
Edgehill Reserves eased to a 5-2 victory at Eastfield Reserves, while James Pinder's brace of goals failed to save Filey Town Reserves from a 4-2 defeat at home to FC Rosette.
In the clash of the newly-promoted sides, Newlands Park Reserves drew 1-1 at home to West Pier Reserves, Luke Weller netting for the hosts and Tom Williamson notching Pier's goal.
Ryedale, the other team to move up from division three, made a superb start with a 5-1 win at Rillington.
Riskers United won 2-1 at Scalby Reserves in a close division three game.
A stunning volley put United ahead after only five minutes, and early in the second half, Luke Delve's low drive made it 2-0 to the visiting team. Danny Gregory pulled a goal back for Scalby, but United held on for the three points.
Ged Ward and Sean Pinder scored for Ayton Reserves in their 2-1 win against league newcomers Falsgrave Pirates, while fellow new boys FC Filey cruised to a 5-1 win against Westover Wasps Reserves.
