Town and Sherburn suffer cup knockout blows

Filey Town 0 Hodgsons 2 TOWN crashed out at the quarter-final stages of the East Riding FA Senior Country Cup, conceding a goal in each half.

In a game played at Beverley, Hodgsons were a goal to the good at the interval.

Despite Filey playing well in spells they were unable to maintain long periods of pressure and Hodgsons took advantage scoring again in the second half.

Town's Chris Duley said: "We did okay in parts but we did not put enough pressure on them and it cost us."

Bridlington SC 6

Sherburn 2 (Scott, C Hepples)

Sherburn's interest in the competition also came to an end after a comprehensive defeat.

Bridlington were a goal up after 20 minutes before Liam Scott levelled for Sherburn with a crisp volley from the edge of the box.

The hosts were back in front by the break however, and then went on to go 6-1 ahead before Sherburn got a second through Carl Hepples.
