Scarborough Athletic boss Funk predicting Rangers epic

SCARBOROUGH Athletic boss Rudy Funk can’t wait to get back on the touchline at fourth-placed Winterton Rangers tomorrow afternoon after a two-week break due to the big freeze.

The Romanian gaffer admits that the break will mean that his players could suffer from a bit of rustiness, but he is predicting an exciting match at West Street tomorrow.

Funk said: “It is great to get back in action. Winterton have fantastic facilities and the players are raring to go.

“Nobody will be 100 per cent after a two-week break but we’ve got everyone in the right frame of mind and we’ll be looking for a good performance again following our win last time out.

“The lads know that if we do well we will move up the table, so there is a lot to play for.”

Funk hasn’t been resting on his laurels during the spell away from the touchlines, admitting that the club have been busy off the field.

He added: “It will be nice to get back in match action.

“We’ve had a two-week break now and have had other things on the agenda. We’ve been able to evaluate some things and put them right and now we’re ready to go again.”

Boro will be without the suspended Daz Winters for the clash at West Street, but Funk is hoping that the form of his newly-formed strike partnership of Ryan Blott and Adam Lee will steer his side to a big three points.

Funk added: “Prior to the break due to the weather, Ryan and Adam were outstanding.

“Let’s hope they can keep up that form and we can remember how we were playing before.

“We were excellent in our last match and hopefully we can now build on that and get some consistent form going into the back end of the season. I want to give everyone at the club some success.”
