Scarborough Town coaches up to standard
SCARBOROUGH Town have been handed a huge triple boost.
The Wearside League club, who work in conjuction with the George Pindar Community College, have been awarded an FA Charter Standard award.
And to link with that, youth coaches Mark Barber, 21, and Steve Marsden, 24, have landed their UEFA B badge.
This also comes as a huge plus for the Scarborough community, as both Marsden and Town midfielder Barber pay weekly visits to many schools to pass on their knowledge.
As well as having a top coaching set-up in place, clubs also have to meet a number of other criteria to boost the standard of the club.
Town coach Mitch Cook said: "It is all great news for the club, Pindar and the town as a whole.
"A lot of effort has been put in by everyone at the club to achieve this award, none more so than Mark and Steve.
"They are two young, enthusiastic coaches, who have spent hours and hours working towards the badges that they richly deserve.
"Both Steve and Mark run after-school clubs across the town, and also go into the different schools to put on coaching sessions.
"The pair of them must be among the youngest coaches in the country to achieve the UEFA B merit.
"They have the qualifications and now it is time for them to push on. It will certainly stand them in good stead."
