Coulson and David hoping achieve rep side success at Bootham Crescent

THE Scarborough & District Representative side are all set to take on their York counterparts in a clash at Bootham Crescent next month.

The Scarborough side will be selected and managed by Eastfield St James boss Kev David and former Edgehill manager Alec Coulson.

The clash is scheduled for Thursday March 15, 7.30pm kick-off, and Coulson is keen for the representative side to continue their favourable record in the fixture.

He said: “I think the team has a good record in the game so we’ll be looking to keep that going again this year.”

Coulson and David are set to meet up and discuss possible selections in the coming weeks, and the former Edgehill boss is keeping his cards close to his chest.

He added: “I’ve had a brief chat with Kev but we’ll be meeting up to have a proper talk in the next couple of weeks.

“We’ll be looking at getting a 14/15 man squad put together. There are some good players about in the local leagues, even with a lot of them moving into the Humber Premier Leagues with Scarborough Town.

“We won’t be looking at any of the higher league players. It wouldn’t be fair to any of the local lads who play in the Saturday leagues.”

Eastfield manager David can’t wait to get involved with managing the side, after previously playing for the side 30 years ago and managing the side alongside Alec’s late father Steve.

David said: “I jumped at the chance to get involved with the side.

“I played in the side about 30 years ago, and although we lost 2-1 it was great to be involved. Hopefully I’ll get the same buzz managing with Alec too.”
