SCARBOROUGH Athletic boss Rudy Funk refused to be drawn on any NCEL Premier division promotion talk ahead of tomorrow’s trip to title rivals Staveley.

If Boro take all the points in Derbyshire then they could leap up to third place, tucked in behind current high-flyers Retford United and Bridlington Town.

Funk is currently happy with how things are progressing at Boro and he has underlined that there will still be plenty more twists and turns in the concluding part of the campaign.

He said: “At this stage of the season it isn’t just about what you do, it is about what everybody does.

“Yes, we have to pick up the points and go on a run, but you also have to keep an eye on the other teams because there will be plenty of results that don’t go according to plan.

“Every game is important for Scarborough Athletic, every match is massive.

“We just have to make sure that we keep our consistency, which at times has been lacking.

“The top teams and the teams that win things tend to go on a run from this stage. We have to build on Saturday’s win against Lincoln Moorlands Railway and keep going.”

Funk added: “We have had plenty of time between games in recent weeks and we have had a lot of time to reflect.

“We are all very happy with where we are at the moment and everybody is upbeat.

“We have everybody available for Saturday’s game and everybody is well and truly up for it.

“It won’t be easy because Staveley are a good side, but we will go there full of spirit and hopefully we’ll emerge with all three points.”

Rudy has had a fantastic first full season, he's built a team, many of whom are local lads, who have topped the table and scored four or five times a game agianst some of the top teams in the league. Scarborough finally has a team club and manager we can get behind as things can only get better!
