SCARBOROUGH Athletic Reserves drew 1-1 at home against East Riding Rangers in their Humber Premier first division clash, with Huw Attwood registering for Steve Brennan’s men.

The third against fourth place match was keenly contested as both teams looked to pull away from a group of five teams, all within three points.

Boro were again forced into making three changes to the squad that won 4-0 at Malet Lambert, with Gareth Sygrove injured and both Mike Booroff and Ali Caw unavailable, under-19s star Tom Micklethwaite was handed a start with Ben Slade filling in at right back and 16-year-old Tyler Richardson added to the squad

While the reserves’ chances of a promotion spot seem limited due to Bransholme in second having three games in hand, Brennan’s boys will be pushing until the end of the season to finish in a highest ever placing for the side.

Bransholme are closing the gap in pursuit of the title however, with three games in hand on, and just eight points behind, leaders Scarborough Town, who lost 2-1 at Hessle Sporting Club.

Reserves regular Wilf Dinsdale made his full first team debut on Saturday against Lincoln Moorlands Railway, playing 65 minutes.

Boss Brennan said: Overall I am disappointed not to have picked up the three points.

“These games are the ones we want to win and finish third and you never know at the end of the season what might happen.

“To be fair to the lads it’s not easy when we don’t have the same 11 each week, but I am happy how they stuck together and got through the game on a poor pitch in the second half.”
