All time low for boss Rudy
RUDY Funk admitted that Saturday’s defeat at Winterton Rangers represents a low point of his time in charge of Scarborough Athletic.
Despite dominating the first half and enjoying plenty of possession throughout the game, Funk’s charges slipped to a 2-0 defeat to their NCE premier division promotion rivals.
A disappointed Funk said after the game: “This afternoon was one of the lowest afternoons in my managerial career, I am absolutely gutted.
“I am usually upbeat about everything, but I am hugely disappointed with the personnel on the field today.
“My hopes for this club are immense, but my beliefs and what I want to achieve here are not right for this group of players.

“I warned them before the game and I warned them at half-time and you have seen the conclusion, Winterton quite deservedly won 2-0.”
The Boro chief admitted that he was so frustrated by the performance that he needs some time to contemplate his next move.
He added: “When you see the class of players that we have at this club it amazes me the way that we played today.
“To be perfectly honest it is not right, we can’t have fans turning up week-in week-out to see performances like this.
“I will go home and have a long and deep think about certain scenarios and there will be some changes.”

Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 10:44 AMA season wasted after all the hype. We cannot afford to stand still. The team we were promised has never materialised . Mr Funk is blaming the players but these are the players that he has brought in so the buck stops with the manager.

Monday, February 20, 2012 at 04:18 PMI am not surprised that Athletic are "struggling" this year. Funk has a large squad of pretty average players and this team will NOT get out of the NE Counties this year and neither will it do it next year as long as Funk is in charge. I didn't agree with his appintment and haven't changed my mind.
