Flintoft sees off Wheatley

Ryedale SC 7 Longshots 3

The highlight of this fixture was the clash between Ryedale’s John Flintoft and Longshots’ Mike Wheatley.

It was a great tactical contest.

Flintoft took the last two sets in an assertive manner 11-5, 13-11 and was also successful in his remaining rubbers.

Wheatley also lost to James Rule who was on top of his game. Rule made sure his team took all four points partnering Mick Carter to a five-set doubles victory.

Wheatley, Pete Simms and Alan Thurling collected wins from Carter but it was not enough to get amongst the points.

TCC 1 Pindar A 9

Jason McAleese, Nigel Clapham won all their singles for Pindar.

Guy Whiting won twice but lost to Tim Penrose for TCC’s consolation win.

Nomads 2 Scarborough A 8

Dale Symons put in a resilient display for Nomads against the table toppers.

He defeated Mark Marshall and just lost to Rebecca George 8-11 in the final set.

Otherwise it was business as usual for the league leaders.

Rebecca stayed unbeaten as did Martin Lowe who won all his singles in straight sets.

The doubles provided Nomads with a late consolation win.

AJs 0 Bridlington Old Boys 10

Lack of match practice in the top flight cost AJs hopes of getting a point.

All three players lost to Richard Lee in the fifth set.

Barry Jordan and Julian James had easier winning rubbers on their way to staying unbeaten and endorsing the whitewash on their opponents.

Blue Hawks 9 Pindar A 1

Pindar suffered a heavy defeat playing with a man short.

A five-set win from Nigel Clapham over Gary Connolly was their only success.

Ross Dransfield and David Stubbs turned in unbeaten performances for Blue Hawks.
