Filey Festival kicks off

The big seas of last weekend put a real damper on sea angling all along the coast and did little to help the preparations of local anglers for the up coming festivals.

This weekend sees the start of the Filey Fishing Festival.

Peeler crabs, as usual, are in short supply and the big seas will have either killed the fishing or may improve codling fishing as there are plenty around.

This may have made them more interested in feeding after the sea has stirred up some food. The Filey Festival starts with a four hour shore match and finishes with The North of England Codling Championship on Sunday. As usual the matches will be keenly fished by many anglers and the rivalry between Filey and Scarborough anglers in particular will add some spice to the proceedings.

Tickets and schedules for all the festival matches are available in local tackle shops.
