Eastfield stay on title track

EASTFIELD under-10s' bid for the title is still on track after picking up seven points over the weekend.

In their first game they were up against Holt FC and claimed a 3-1 victory.

Cairan Moss scored the only goal of the first half when he headed in a Josh Lever corner.

Lever turned provider again when his quick throw caught out the Holt FC defence and Ben Atkinson fired in.

Substitutes Cailum Webster and Jordan Salt combined for the third when Webster’s lay-off was met by Salt who sent a screamer into the top corner.

Jakob Davies scored a lobbed effort to claw a goal back for Holt.

In their second game Eastfield were held to a 1-1 draw by Scalby who were a goal to the good early in the second half before Moss equalised.

Eastfield took on Scalby for a second time but with several changes to the starting team.

Brandon Coyle fired Eastfield ahead with his first of the season but straight from the kick-off Scalby were level, Callum Randerson-Wray scoring a spectacular effort from his own half.

Scalby were in front when Coyle put through his own net but it was all-square at the break when Jordan Herbert netted the first of his hat-trick.

Herbert was on target again when he latched onto a Josh Lever cross to finish before Herbert turned provider for Lever to make it 4-2.

Herbert completed his hat-trick before Lever wrapped things up for Eastield.

Ryan Furnell scored the only goal of the game direct from a corner as his Scholes Park Marauders side defeated West Pier 1-0.

The goal came midway through the first half. Tom Pratt played in Tom Wade and his shot was tipped wide by the Pier keeper. Furnell swung the ball in and it beat everyone including the keeper.

Phoenix continued their title push with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over West Pier.

Both goals came in the first half with man-of-the-match Callum Richardson blasting in two free-kicks.

Phoenix reached the under-10s cup final the following day after they overwhelmed Kirkbymoorside 6-0.

They were 4-0 up by the break with a double from Ross Lazenby and goals for man-of-the-match Kai Colbourne and Nathan Coulson. Lazenby completed his hat-trick and Colbourne added his second in a cracking display.
