Dickens leaves it late to claim victory for the Flyers

STU Dickens scored a late winner for Filey Flyers as they won 3-2 at United Sports Bar.

Dickens opened the scoring for Flyers earlt doors but Sports were soon back on level terms thanks to Mark Vasey.

Matty Dickens restored the Filey advantage before Vasey scored again, this time with a header.

Stu Dickens popped up late on to win it for Flyers when his shot went in off the post.

West Pier and Newlands had to settle for a share of the spoils after playing out a 1-1 draw.

Kristian Johnson fired Newlands ahead after he capitalised on a mistake from Pier keeper Gary Ellwood.

Pier created chances and their efforts paid off with an equaliser in the second half when Mark Tucker and Nicky Kitto combined to set up Marc Yorke and he did the rest with the finish.

Both teams had further opportunities but the draw was probably the correct result.

Pier boss Paddy Parke said: “I think the draw was fair and that both sides were equal.

“There were chances for both teams and we played okay at times.

“Marc Yorke had a good game for us and worked hard.”

Adie Blake grabbed a couple of goals to help Star win 4-0 at B&C Riskers.

Ryan Jackson and Jamie Cammish both also got their names on the scoresheet for the victors.

Cammish scored the goal of the game with a fine strike from more than 20 yards.
