TOP Yorkshire coach Tony Pickersgill was on hand to take the Scarborough Cricket Development Group youngsters through their paces at Scarborough Rugby Club.
Pickersgill ran the town’s top cricketing prospects through some of the drills and warm-ups that the Yorkshire under-17s side would do prior to a match, while also offered tips and advice on the youngsters’ games.
The likes of Driffield batsman John Major, Scarborough 2nds spinner Jordan Welford, Cloughton all-rounder Callum Ferrie and Staxton prospect Linden Grey all benefitted from Pickersgill’s expertise.
John Green, who runs the Development Group as well as the Joe Lumb XIs, was delighted that Pickersgill had come through to pass on his knowledge.
He said: “It was a good session for the young lads.

“It’s great that they get to benefit from Tony’s knowledge and it will definitely help them progress as cricket players.
“Tony took them back to basics as well as doing the full warm up that the Yorkshire under-17s would do before any match.
“You can slowly but surely see the standard of the local youngsters improving thanks to the specialist coaching they are getting through the development group.”
Another Yorkshire coach, Mark Locker, is scheduled to take a number of sessions with the development group as well.
