THE draw for the first and second rounds of the National Village Knockout Competition have been announced, with local rivals Ebberston and Staithes set to face each other in a potential thriller.

Ebberston and Staithes contested a fiery affair last season and four Staithes players were subsequently handed bans as a result of their behaviour during the match.

This could make for a lively encounter with both sides likely to be keen to progress to the latter stages of the competition.

Forge Valley host 2010 winners Sessay in the North Yorkshire North section first round in what will be a very tough encounter.

Valley secretary Simon Dobson is relishing the challenge.

He said: ‘We can use this as an opportunity to match ourselves against one of the best sides in the entire competition.

“Providing we are at full strength, we can be really competitive against any opposition.”

Seamer & Irton play host Ouseburn, while in round two Cayton are at home to Silton.

In the North Yorkshire South section, Beckett League champions Heslerton host Walton, with the victors netting a home clash against Staxton in the third round.

Folkton & Flixton host Sherriff Hutton Bridge, who will possibly include former Staxton duo Rob Pinder and Elliot Cooper.

The first round matches are scheduled for Sunday May 6, while second round ties will be played on Sunday May 20.
