Brompton 2nds wrap up title with away win

BROMPTON 2nds secured the title, and promotion to the top flight, with an eight-wicket win at Flixton 3rds.

Seamer Ross Triffitt completed a superb season with the ball, taking three wickets for 19 runs, while Craig Mudd chipped in with 3-29 as Flixton slumped to 92 all out.

For the home side, only John Boddy, 31, and John Ward, 29, showed any resistance.

Blake Nixon's 49 helped the visitors to secure the 19 points that earned them the title.

Oriel pipped Sewerby 3rds for the second promotion slot, storming to a seven-wicket home win against Wombleton while Sewerby suffered a shock four-wicket loss at Lockton 2nds - a result that kept Lockton up.

Simon Saxon was the pick of the Oriel attack as the Scarborough team skittled Wombleton for just 41 runs, the hosts coasting to victory despite a spell of 3-15 from Anthony Walker.

Sewerby 3rds collapsed to 110 all out at Lockton 2nds in the face of some accurate bowling from veteran seamer Keith Eddon.

The seasoned campaigner scooped 5-30 for Lockton, while Paul Dandy and Luke Sharples hit 24 each for the visitors.

Vince O'Grady kept Sewerby in the hunt for a victory that wold have sent them into division A, but a superb unbeaten 72 from Neil Robson steered Lockton to victory - and helped them to beat the drop.

This result sent Foords 2nds down to division C despite their eight-wicket success at basement club Ravenscar 2nds.

The young Filey side skittled Ravenscar, who only won twice all season, for just 80 runs.

Jack Johnson was the star Foords bowler with final figures of 5-19, while teenager Joe Brain helped himself to 3-13.

David Noble was the only home batsman to distinguish himself with the

bat, striking a defiant 36.

Aaron Howard and Kristian Johnson wrapped up the win for Foords, with both hitting 32no, but it was not enough to save the Filey side from the drop.

Jack Parkin's 4-21 helped Fylingdales 2nds to an eight-run win against visitors Thornton Dale 2nds.
