Athletic set for final pre-season challenge

SCARBOROUGH Athletic head into their final pre-season warm-up tomorrow, on track for the season and in confident mood.

The game at Evo-Stick division one side Harrogate Railway Athletic (KO 3pm) gives manager Brian France the last chance to run the rule over his squad, before picking the line-up for the opener against Lincoln M R on August 7.

And the side has been in top form so far - with four wins from five games and three clean-sheets, the latest of which was a 1-0 win at Ossett Albion in mid-week.

France will welcome new signing Nathan Hotte into the squad for the first time after his holiday, although Ryan Blott is on his travels until mid-August.

The striker is recharging his batteries while he sits out the first three competitive games of the season following a sending-off late last term.

Also away is Mark Griffin, who is at a wedding, and Phil Rowland, who is on honeymoon after getting married himself last week.

French midfielder Jacques Joblon and former Scarborough FC skipper Denny Ingram could be involved again, as all parties attempt to finalise deals which could see both players sign on for the new season.

Harrogate Railway will feature two familiar names in their squad.

Paddy Miller played 30 times for Boro last season, and signed for the Station View side this summer.

While Dave Hartas, who had previously been in training with Whitby and Pickering, will also feature for the home side.

Boro fans are reminded that season tickets and replica shirts will be on sale at the game.
