Ace Ryan Blott keen to claim derby spoils

SCARBOROUGH Athletic striker Ryan Blott is confident his side can grab the East Coast bragging rights when they take on landlords Bridlington Town at Queensgate tonight (7.45pm ko).

Boro won the NCEL Premier clash on November 7 by a 2-1 scoreline, but a week later Brid secured a 5-2 success to knock Brian France's men out of the FA Vase.

Blott, who scored one of the goals for Boro in the Vase defeat, said: "It is a massive game for us and one that all of the lads are looking forward to.

"Obviously we'd like the bragging rights, but it isn't just about that. Despite what people have been saying about us being out of the title race after Saturday's disappointing defeat at Hallam, a victory might still pull us right back into it.

"A win against Brid tonight and one against leaders Rainworth could really give us an outside chance of going up, but it is all up to us.

"If we lose either of those games then it doesn't look good. It isn't over though, you don't know what can happen to teams in the second half of a season.

"It was disappointing to lose against Brid in the FA Vase earlier this year, but we were much happier with the league points, because that is what we are focusing on this season.

"We looked good in our game against Whitby Town in the North Riding Cup and we'll be hoping to build from that.

"It won't be easy though, especially as we haven't played many games over the past few months."
