THE chase for top primary team honours went to the Scarborough Gymnastics Academy.
They held off strong opposition from runners-up Stakesby School’s cricket team, as well as a trio of other nominees - Northstead School’s cross-country team, and cricket sides from Lindhead and Northstead.

Highlight in a year to remember for the primary gym aces was their superb second overall in the British team championships.

The girls led the way in a highly-competitive battle for the under-18 team honours.

Graham School’s under-16 North Yorkshire and North of England table tennis champions finished in a superb runners-up spot in the England national event, and that was enough to edge out the under-14 hockey girls from Caedmon School at the Scarborough and District awards night.

The thriving Scarborough Ladies FC picked up the top community sports club award for their league and cup success throughout the age groups, from senior level to under-12s. Runners-up were Scarborough Netball Club, which has six teams playing in the local leagues.
