SCARBOROUGH are still in second spot in the Yorkshire League after rain wiped out their chances of victory at Doncaster.
Captain Darren Harland was impressive with the bat scoring a fine 102 not out while teenage all-rounder Scott Cooper chipped in with 50 not out as the visitors posted 193-3 from their 55 overs.

Harland opened the batting along with Kunwar Bansil, but Bansil was dismissed for just 13.

Piet Rinke chipped in with 19 for Scarborough who lost number three Joe Padmore for a duck.

In reply Doncaster reached 77-6 off 35 overs before the game was abandoned due to the wet weather.

Former Zimbabwe international Rinke was the top performer with the ball for Harland's charges claiming four wickets for just 27 runs.

Leaders York picked up a victory at home to struggling Appleby Frodingham, which means that they are now eight points ahead of Harland's team.

It was a disappointing day for Scarborough as they were well on course for a win until the weather played its part.

Rinke was causing havoc with the Doncaster batsmen and was likely to continue to take wickets as Scarborough were looking to keep the heat up on York.

Yorkshire League latest standings: (all teams played 15 games). York 77 points, Scarborough 69, Barnsley 63, Hull 62, Rotherham 60, Castleford 59, Cleethorpes 59, Sheffield Collegiate 56, Doncaster 54, Sheffield United 46, Driffield Town 43, Yorkshire Academy 42, Appleby Frodingham 38, Harrogate 17.
