Under-9s Specsavers Cup
Scholes Park Raiders 2 (Ferrie, Butler) Fishburn Park 0

Scholes' under-nines continued the good finals form of their club by adding another cup and league double to an impressive tally.

After Fishburn had the livel
ier start Scholes settled down and began to play impressively.

Both teams produced some very creative play but defended well also so it was no surprise when the first-half ended goalless.

Scholes showed why they had enjoyed an unbeaten league campaign by creating two chances in the first minute after the break, and they didn't have to wait long as Joel Ferrie smashed home a ball from close range to give his side the lead in the third minute of the half.

Both teams created chances and last-ditch tackles and goalmouth scrambles were the order of the day.

It was Scholes who took a firm advantage though when a ball was slotted home by Robbie Butler, and they were unlucky not to make it three when a shot was smacked against the post in the dying seconds.

This was a satisfying performance from Scholes but a great effort from a fledgling Fishburn team.
