A CONTINGENT of junior rowers from Scarborough Amateur Rowing Club came away with a handful of medals from the English Indoor rowing championships held at Manchester Velodrome.
Chris Bland and Tom Craven both earned silver medals in the competition.

Chris finished second in the heavyweight catogory rowing 2000 metres in a time of 6.39.8 and Tom was runner-up in the lightweight 2000 metres in a time of 7.02.8.

The two lads then went on to win gold in the four-man team event with their team-mates Mattie Young and Sam Woodward.

Their winning time was 8.52.2, five seconds faster than their closest rivals.

Kev Barker, captain of the Rowing Club, said: "The lads have trained really hard for this event and are now looking forward to the rowing season ahead which starts at the end of this month."
