SCARBOROUGH Yacht Club celebrated another year of fantastic sailing with the presentation of trophies at the annual dinner/dance at the Spa.
Oil skins and lifejackets were swapped for dinner jackets and long dresses and after an excellent meal and before dancing to Little Big Horn, the 42 prizes were presented to the winning crews.

Humdinger once again took a good share of the trophies, with Vado, Ruffian, Nemo and Zeris also showing impressive form.

The two biggest cheers of the night however, were reserved for the five ladies from Chansa who received the 'Seawife of the Year' trophy for their sail to Holland in the North Sea Race, in horrendous conditions, where a lot of the male crews had resorted to the engine.

Also Maverix, who won the Shagreen Trophy for the keenest raced yacht not winning a major trophy.

Commodore Steve Russell said: “It’s great to think we are the only club from along the coast who can manage to sail all year round, with a good turn-out of boats throughout the year, creating really competitive sailing.

“A big thanks must also go to Boyes Stores and Plaxton Ltd for sponsoring our premier events this year, also we have seen club boats sail some marvellous cruises this year to the Azores, Ireland, the Isle of Skye as well as the usual continent trips.”
