BECAUSE of last month's bad weather which saw the joint captain's day at Filey postponed, the rearranged fixture took place with a combined joint captain and president's day four-ball mixed team Texas Scramble.
Once again the weather had a part to play with torrential rain over the past week making the course play long with some areas flooded, so it was good to see some sunshine in what proved to be a very successful event.

With handicaps calculated at 1
0% of the total four-ball handicaps, Chris Megginson - husband of lady captain Sue Megginson - and playing partners Jonathon Pickard, Liz Cammish and Pauline Manifould produced the winning score of nett 59.6 to pip Mel Thompson, Joe Naylor, Jenny Davis and Janet Slack, also with nett 59.6, on the back nine with 31.

In third with nett 60 were Roger Slack, Steve Beadle, Karen Jenkinson and Clare Thompson, from Alan Jenkinson, Gary Marflitt, Sandra Jones and Rita Birkell, nett 61.1, while in fifth came Revan Turnbull, Jeff Sloane, Ruby Turnbull and Jean Ware, nett 62.7.

Prizes were awarded after the event by Filey's club officials, captain Chris Callow, lady captain Sue Megginson, president Eric Widdop and lady president Shirley Harrison.

Filey's invitation day two saw an AM/AM format that has proved successful over the past three years. There was to be a little sting in the tail this time as all four scores had to count on Filey's par three holes to make it a testing competition.

Filey member Trevor Lunn showed he did not feel any of the pressure when he holed his tee shot on the 136-yard par three 16th for a hole-in-one which obviously gave him the nearest pin prize on that hole.

The winning team, producing an 11-under par total of 147, were Ian McKaig, Paul Hebden, Paul Nock and Barry Jackson.

They won by one shot from Neil Cammish, Matt Jenkinson, Sean Smith and Simon Deaves, with Andy Cammish, Paul Pritchard, James Mason and Tony Creaser third on 151.

Fourth with 152 were Mark Sayers Ainsley Scott, Chris Scott and Dave Dowie, who edged it on the back nine from fifth-placed Joe Naylor, Graham Totty Dave Trenham and Roy Aldrich.

Prizes for nearest pin went to John Millington on the third hole, while Joe Hakings took the honours on the sixth.
