ATHLETICS' David Feasey has been named coach of the year.
The 30-year-old from Cayton had his own athletics career cut short by a knee injury three years ago, but soon qualified as a level two coach, setting up a training group for Scarborough AC’s mainly younger athletes.

Despite further injury problems, he has successfully coached young athletes to county level, with the hundreds of miles of travelling showing his dedication to the sport.

Stan Chadwick, the 91-year-old Paragon Cycling Club member, has won the Service to Sport award.

Stan, from Newby, was a founder member of the Paragon Club back in 1953, and as well as previously taking part in many events he has also played a leading role in organising races.

This year’s new award of sports volunteer of the year has gone to gymnastics’ Kadie Walker.

The 22-year-old puts in several hours a week helping at the Scarborough Gymnastics Academy, picking up coaching qualifications along the way. She now runs a development squad for seven and eight-year-olds.

The special achievement award has gone to Chris Turnbull of Scarborough Bowls Centre.

As well as his achievements at Scarborough, he helped Filey Bowls Club to league glory, was an over-55s national area finalist and has had indoor bowls county success.
