SCARBOROUGH Athletic boss Brian France will be using tomorrow's friendly clash with Frickley as a preparation yardstick for the new NCE League campaign.
Boro kicked off their pre-season last weekend with a 4-4 draw at Hutton Cranswick.

Unibond premier outfit Frickley will be a much bigger test though, and the Boro chief is planning on trimming his side down in time for the encounter at Westfield Lane.

France said: “The Hutton Cranswick game was a good run-out. We went three up at the break, though it could have been seven or eight.

“We changed things around after that to give everyone a run-out to give us a good look at what we have. Having judged what we saw on Saturday, we’ll trim the squad a bit before the Frickley game.

“That will be a big test for us. They are a good side so it will be the perfect yardstick to see how things are going.”

Boro are hoping to have defender Dave Kemp and striker Ryan Blott in the side after injury problems, while new faces Rob Ellis, Dave Hartas and Phil Danforth, who have all impressed France, will also be in the squad.
