Sunday sees the start of Scarborough Golf Week, which began in 1921 and has grown to be one of the best-supported events in the country.
Golfers from all over the country take part in the competitions, which are open to both men and women with the only stipulation being that men have a playing handicap of 21 or less and ladies 35 or less.

The main event is the men's cir
cuit competition with 72 holes played over the four courses -Filey, North Cliff, South Cliff and Whitby.

The Mayor's Trophy for the best gross score, currently held by J Moss from Kirkbymoorside, and the Scarborough Challenge Cup for the best nett, held by Nick Hudson of North Cliff, are up for grabs.

Limited spaces are still available for all competitions, and tee times and entries can be made by contacting organiser John Barber on 01723- 367579.

Sunday: team competition at Filey for men'’s and ladies teams.

Four-ball Stableford at South Cliff for men.

Starting times 8.30am to 2.30pm.

Monday: Four-ball Stableford at North Cliff for men.

Strokeplay competition at Filey for men.

Four-ball better-ball at South Cliff for ladies.

Start times 8am to 3 pm.

Tuesday: four-ball better-ball at Whitby for men.

Strokeplay competition at North Cliff for men.

Four-ball better-ball at Filey for ladies.

Starting times 8am to 3pm.

Wednesday: four-ball Stableford at South Cliff for men.

Strokeplay competition at Whitby for men.

Strokeplay competition at North Cliff for ladies.

Starting times 8am to 3pm.

Thursday: four-ball Stableford at Filey for men.

Strokeplay competition at South Cliff for men.

Four-ball better-ball at Whitby for ladies.

Starting times 8am to 3pm.

Friday: four-ball better-ball at North Cliff for men.

Four-ball better-ball at Filey for men.

Four-ball Stableford at South Cliff for ladies.

Starting times 8am to 2.30pm.

Entry fees are £15 per person for each men’s event and £13 for each ladies event.

The presentation evening is at South Cliff on Friday September 5 (8pm).
