A song in aid of Barnardo's has been recorded at a Scarborough studio.
The song, entitled Mummy, This Song is for You, was performed by 10-year-old Charlotte Warren, of Driffield.

Scarborough songwriter, musician and producer Nik Martin, arranged the music and recorded the song at Media Music Studios in Staxton.

He said: "It all went very well – Charlotte is a really good singer, especially for someone so young.

"This is the first charity song I've done. I normally write songs to be performed at holiday camps, both in this country and abroad, so to do something different like this was great."

Ann Lowde, of Personal Verses, in Driffield, wrote the lyrics. She said: "It's a very emotional song – some people have cried when they heard it.

"Charlotte was fantastic, and I would also like to thank Nik for very kindly giving his time and effort to produce this CD."

The CD, priced at £4.50, will be launched at Barnardo's in Driffield on August 16 with a mystery celebrity.

Organisers are running a competition for a child up to the age of 13 to design the CD cover, with the theme of My Mum.

The top prize will be awarded to the winner by Sugar Shack sweet shop in Driffield.

Entries, which must be the size of a CD sleeve, should be sent to Sugar Shack, 70 Middle Street South, Driffield, YO25 6QF by Tuesday August 5. Entrants should include their name, age, address and telephone number.
