Youngsters look at Egypt as part of the global curriculum

PUPILS at George Pindar Community Sports College walked liked an Egyptian when they took part in themed workshops.

The Eastfield school held the Egyptian day as part of their global curriculum and also to tie in with England's recent friendly international football match against Egypt, which England won 3-1.

Nasr Emam, culture and diversity adviser for North Yorkshire, helped the school run the event.

More than 500 pupils in the school took part in a host of activities including a bongo session, creating Egyptian art, and wearing Egyptian clothes, and some children learned about Egyptian mythology.

Felicity Davis, assistant headteacher, said: "There was a lot going on and plenty for pupils to get involved in. Children and staff dressed up for the day and they were also treated to an Egyptian menu at lunch.

"We want to thank Nasr for his help. We hope to look at different cultures again in the future."
